The Public Relations Department at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is seeking to fill a full-time Professor-of-Practice (PoP) position beginning in fall 2012. We are seeking to add a practitioner with extensive professional experience in Public Relations from the agency, corporate, not-for-profit or government sectors. The Department is looking for candidates with distinguished experience and leadership in Public Relations; a capability of forging innovative instructional designs including digital media is particularly desirable. Candidates with active memberships and affiliations with professional organizations are preferred.

Teaching responsibilities will include Public Relations Campaigns, Public Relations writing courses and Public Relations Management, and courses that complement the individual’s expertise or specialization (three courses each semester, fall and spring). These courses may be at the undergraduate or graduate level. Depending upon qualifications, this professor may also have the opportunity to teach in the School’s Executive Education Program in Communications Management.

Marketing Project Manager

The Marketing Project Manager will report to the Vice President of Marketing, and be responsible for a variety of design focused activities, including: creating design concepts and final products for sales and marketing collateral, trade show designs, advertising opportunities, e-newsletters, social media, web-based publications, etc. Additional marketing projects and duties will be assigned.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with a marketing and design-related concentration and have demonstrated expertise in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop; knowledge of printing, preflight processes and file transfer protocol (FTP). Excellent written communication skills and a knowledge of basic digital photography a must, as well as experience prioritizing multiple projects.
